Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does “all inclusive” mean?

A: Your trip starts in Fairbanks and we take care of everything and bring you back to Fairbanks. Actually, if you want to start somewhere else we can take care of that too. Your flights, meals, guides, fishing licenses, boats, gear, food- all included. The only things that are not included are specialty clothing items, (we will send you a list) and alcoholic beverages (but you are welcome to bring your own, no corkage fees). You let us know about your likes, dislikes and dietary restrictions, and we take care of the rest.

Q: Why is it so expensive?

A: We are a fly-in only lodge located 60 miles above the Arctic Circle in the heart of the Brooks Range. We are accessible only by privately chartered aircraft. There are no roads for at least 100 miles in any direction and we include everything in our tour prices. Another way to do the math is to divide your chosen tour price by the number of people you won’t see, or by the number of mountains you will see. Then it’s a trip you can’t afford to miss!

Q: Since you are so remote, what if the weather keeps planes from flying?

A: We only fly with licensed, insured, and certified air taxi companies. They decide when it’s ok to fly and the stable, interior weather of the Brooks Range means flight delays are very rare. In the unlikely event of a delay we do not charge for extra time spent at our facilities or delicious meals consumed during unlikely delays.

Q: I’ve never been to Alaska’s Far North, what trip do you suggest?

A: Give us a call or send us an email. You will be in direct contact with us, the owners and guides. We have been in business over 40 years and are committed to providing you with the Alaskan customized trip of a lifetime.

Q: How are meals prepared and served?

A: All meals are hand-crafted on site. We use local produce and meats when possible and serve family style. There is no assigned seating or televisions at the dinner table.

Q: We are vegetarians, is that a problem?

A: No. While it’s difficult for us to envision life without the delicious taste of fresh caught Alaskan salmon, we customize every trip to fit your needs and that includes any dietary restrictions or preferences.

Q: This sounds great, where is the reservation form to fill out?

A: We customize every trip, so a generic reservation form is useless. You will need to call or email us and once we have decided on the perfect trip for you, we do have a guest application form for you to fill out here. That way we have a list of dietary restrictions and medical concerns.
