We offer trips to the
Gates of the Arctic &
Kobuk Valley National Park
A few minutes north of Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge is Gates of the Arctic National Park. It is 8.2 million acres, all north of the Arctic Circle and littered with mountain ranges. To the west, en-route to the Bering Sea, is Kobuk National Park, 1.75 million acres of designated lands home to the infamous Kobuk Sand Dunes. Native legends tell of giants who fought in the area, tearing the tundra open and exposing the sands beneath. To the east is more of the Brooks Range and the peaks, Frigid Crags and Boreal Mountain, that make up the “Gates of the Arctic.”
If you are interested in adding the Kobuk and Gates of the Arctic to your National Parks Passport stamps we can easily arrange an itinerary to both locations during your stay.

Situated at the north end of a lake five miles long and a mile wide, Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge is overlooked by 4,000 foot peaks which mark the onset of the southern Brooks Range and provide a stunning backdrop to our secluded location. The beautiful sand and gravel beaches along Iniakuk Lake are perfect for an early morning stroll or shore lunch later in the day. We have a small fleet of canoes for exploring the local coves and inlets, or pick out a scenic ridge and spend the day hiking.
